Stirling student Chenao Li has had his car confiscated and is banned from driving for three years after he was caught drink driving for the second time in just over a week.
He pled guilty to drink-driving and failure to provide a specimen at Stirling Sheriff Court on Monday.
The student, living in ASH, was fined £1950, is banned from driving for three years and will have his car removed.
Sheriff Wade said: “You showed a blatant disregard for the road traffic laws in this country, which are designed to protect people”.
The Chinese student arrived in Scotland in May and is studying English.
Adrian Fraser, prosecuting, said:
When he was charged, he said, ‘I’ve just arrived in the UK and I don’t know the details of UK law’.
Li was three times over the limit when he was caught drink driving on August 22. The 22 year old was spotted driving on the wrong side of Goosecroft Road, near Stirling train station.
Fraser said:
He was spoken to and the police noticed he was unsteady on his feet. He was using the car for balance and the officers could detect alcohol on his breath.
He was caught again on August 30 where he failed to provide a breath sample.
Li will appear in court again on September 17.
