Stirling Uni CND are organising a coach to take students to London and back for what anti-Trident activists hope will be “the biggest mobilisation against nuclear weapons in a generation”.

The Stop Trident Demo on 27 February is being timed to remind politicians of public opposition to Britain’s nuclear weapons system ahead of a Parliamentary vote on replacing it later this year.

The demonstration begins at the Marble Arch in London before a march to Trafalgar Square, where there will be a rally.

Speakers already confirmed for the rally include First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn, Plaid Cymru chief Leanne Wood and Green MP for Brighton Pavilion, Caroline Lucas.

Alasdair Ibbotson from Stirling University CND said:

Cuts are directly affecting Stirling students. Tuition fees for non-Scottish students are increasing, grants are being cut and vital services like our NHS are being gutted. Spending £100bn on unusable weapons is a criminal waste of money and totally wrong – join us to fight for education, not Trident.”

The coach will be leaving from Stirling University at 00:00 on the 27th, but will also stop off at Stirling train station at 00:10. The coach will then take everyone home on the night of the 27th.

Tickets cost £10 unwaged and £15 waged. Students and non-students are welcome.

If you would like to order a ticket, you can do so via Stirling Uni CND’s Facebook page or their official event page. Alternatively, you can contact Alasdair directly on 07856749264.
