This year’s Scottish Student Journalism Awards are set to take place on May 26th. This marks the 5th year of the event that aims to give more spotlight to Scottish student journalists and their work.
The ceremony, which will be held at the National Piping Centre in Glasgow, has been organised by Media students from Glasgow Clyde College.
Entries for the competition are now open, and will be judged by professionals in the journalism industry. These include; Alan Muir of The Sun Newspaper, Hugh McDonald of The Herald and former Stirling student Mark Daly, who now works as an investigative reporter at the BBC, among others.
The ceremony will also be hosted by the Chief Feature Writer of the Scottish Sun Matt Bendoris.
One of the organisers, Bridget Dingwani, said:
We are delighted to have been given the opportunity to organise such a huge event and we have all been working really hard to make this event a success. We are hoping to get more entries across Scotland this year.
The competition evaluates 11 categories covering news, features, sports, broadcast, columns and others, as well as having awards for the best student website, publication and journalist.
