Hundreds of homes are to built in the Raploch area as part of a proposal by Stirling Council aimed at tackling deprivation.
The proposal brought forward in partnership between Stirling Council and Robertson Group Ltd will deliver 400-543 new homes across five sites in the area, including Gowanhill Gardens, Craigforth Crescent, Raploch Road, Kildean and Drip Road; with the development due to be complete by 2020.
Stirling Council Leader Johanna Boyd said: “The partnership between Stirling Council and Robertson Group Ltd. has risen from Stirling’s City Commission – an advisory board which will help guide Stirling’s choices in infrastructure investment, business development, connectivity and other high impact projects.
“This new housing in Raploch will support the City Development Framework – a programme to position Stirling as an economic and cultural powerhouse – as housing plays an essential role in promoting economic growth and social justice.”
At least 160 units for affordable rent and 100 units for mid-market rent will be available as well as 40 private rental and 100 for market sale.
Around 60 properties offering affordable housing will be funded through a £5m investment from the Falkirk Pension Fund, managed by CastleRock Edinvar Housing Association Ltd.
Stirling Council’s community planning and regeneration convenor Cllr Corrie McChord said: “By approving this partnership proposal to increase the amount and variety of housing in Raploch we are continuing our commitment to the regeneration of the area.”
