Gigs coming up in Central Scotland

4 mins read

The winter months can be dull, dreary and stressful thanks to all those university deadlines. So what better way to brighten up this time of year than to go and see some great live music?

There are lots of amazing artists heading north of the border in the next couple of months to choose from. From Clean Bandit to Gorillaz, there’s something for everyone coming up!

Clean Bandit – October 29th (Glasgow Barrowlands)

Following the success of their number one single, ‘Rockabye’, earlier this year, Clean Bandit are hitting the road for the first time since Neil Amin-Smith left the classical-pop crossover quartet. After seeing their electrifying performance at T in the Park in 2015, I can confirm that their live shows are spectacular so this is one not to be missed! Jump at the chance to see genre-defying collective play their massive hits live, including the number one single ‘Rather Be’ and ‘Symphony’. Tickets are available now.

Wolf Alice – November 11th and 12th (Glasgow Barrowlands)

Following a tightly contested battle with Shania Twain on the UK album chart last month, Wolf Alice are taking their brilliant new album Visions of a Life on a world tour, which includes two dates at the Barrowlands. They’ve built a name for themselves as one of the best live acts in the country, so this is a gig not to be missed.

VANT – November 17th (Glasgow O2 ABC2)

Following the release of their debut album Dumb Blood earlier this year, VANT are a British punk rock band to get excited about. You better catch them live on this tour, though, as they are going on an “indefinite hiatus” after the conclusion of ‘The Last Days of Punk’ tour.

Nina Nesbitt – November 22nd (Glasgow Art School)

Following her plucky folk-pop debut Peroxide, which was released four years ago, Nina has been taking her time carefully crafting new self-produced music. New track, ‘The Best You Had’ has recently been featured as a track of the week on Greg James’ drivetime Radio 1 show. If this single is anything to go by, her comeback will be something to get excited about and this show will feature some of her hits as well as exciting new material.

Gorillaz – November 29th (Glasgow The SSE Hydro)

This year’s album Humanz was the most musically diverse album yet by Damon Albarn’s experimental animated band, who’ve released classics like ‘Feel Good Inc.’ and ‘Clint Eastwood’ over the years. Fans can expect to see some of the wide array of guest stars who featured on the new album live on stage as well as a set list that will features the highlights of a back-catalogue that spans nearly two decades.
