Anthony Joshua is heading back to the ring against WBO title holder Joseph Parker from New Zealand. This unification bout is the first of many for Joshua this year.
The fight is taking place on March 31, in Cardiff’s Principality Stadium. The event is starting from 6pm, with the undercard featuring a range of fights, such as Alexander Povetkin vs David Price (WBA and WBO heavyweight inter-continental and international), Anthony Crolla vs Edson Ramirez (lightweight) and Joe Cordina vs Hakim Ben Ali (vacant WBA lightweight)
There are a few more still to be declared. It will be a packed event, with many memorable moments.
The main event of Joshua vs Parker should be underway around 10pm.
Joshua weighed in around 18st right now, with the weight for the fight being kept a close secret. The boxer is consuming twice the amount a normal man should eat, in order to prepare for the bout – a whopping 5,000 calories on training days, as around 2,000 are lost in training.
Breakfast consists of fresh fruit, four or five eggs, smoked salmon and a bagel or toast, topped off with a lot of vegetables. Impressive, right?
WBA, IBF, and WBA champion Anthony Joshua could have his first loss tomorrow night. Joseph Parker is ready to fight and is in war mode.
As always, the press conference was the most entertaining. The war of words this time was not between Joshua and Parker, but rather their managers, Eddie Hearn and David Higgins.
Higgins jumped straight in, by saying:
“Hearn is the second best promoter in the world and I challenge Hearn to let Joshua to speak for himself”
Another sharp jab by Higgins was “Stop talking Eddie. We can smell the silver spoon on your breath.”
According to the Express, the split in pay is around 67:33 in favour of Joshua, considering his status.
“The total purse for the fight is, if Joshua vs Parker pay-per-view sales hit expected targets, around £20m, meaning Joshua will pocket £13m which Parker takes home a career-high of £7m.”
Keep in mind, Joshua has a range of sponsors, so there will be a much higher earning for the British fighter.
Sky Sports Box Office will be showing the fight, as per, for £19.95.
If Joshua does win, who will be his next opponent? Wilder’s side have said that we should not expect a fight till early 2019. Could this mean Tyson Fury may get a chance?
