Sabrina The Teenage Witch, Rebooted with a sinister twist.

2 mins read

You may remember the iconic Sabrina the Teenage Witch from childhood, with Salem the talking cat and his impeccable wit. Melissa Joan Hart played the light-hearted teenage witch solving typical high school problems with a magical twist in the 1990’s sitcom.

Fond memories may be erased because Sabrina The Teenage Witch is being rebooted as a Netflix original from the executive producers of Riverdale. Introducing; The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, starring Mad Men’s Kiernan Shipka.

Kiernan Shipka is all grown up since debuting as Sally Draper on Mad Men over a decade ago. She grew into a bold and beautiful young woman with a flair for acting. So the anticipation is there to see her in a role she can really flourish in. The series will be released on the 26th of October just in time for Halloween.

If you’ve seen the trailers you will know the reboot is nothing like its counterpart. Following the same story line Sabrina reaches her sweet sixteen and must choose between becoming a witch like her family or staying mortal like her friends. This is when the two series start to differ. Featuring possession, invoking evil spirits and deals with the devil the series promises sinister themes throughout.

Although it’s not all dark as Harvey Kinkle returns to the series as well. Ross Lynch who plays Sabrina’s sweetheart Harvey describes the character as ‘Sabrina’s anchor to the mortal world’. Their relationship begins innocent and loving but it can’t stay like that for long!

The first season will be releasing episodes weekly, and word has it a second series is already underway!
