Fourth year Stirling student Lewis Hunter has signed a one-year contract with East Fife Football Club, who play in Scottish League One.

Hunter will begin playing for the team in the summer following his graduation. The 2019/20 season begins in August.

On a football scholarship, Hunter has captained the Men’s 1st team at Stirling University for the last two years, and explains this time has been incredibly important in his development.

Coach Chris Geddes was critical in his growth as a player, Hunter explains, and he looks forward to taking his talents forward into East Fife, where he can continue to develop.

Though Hunter has played a trial game with East Fife already, the contract offer came as somewhat of a surprise. He said: “I thought I’d maybe just be asked to do the pre-season.”

But he’d performed well in a variety of matches, and the right people were clearly watching. The process “was relatively quick after those games.”

Hunter has thoroughly enjoyed playing for Stirling University in the Lowland League, and looks forward to his next steps with East Fife.

This signing marks the second Stirling scholar to sign a professional contract this year. Blair Lyons will also play in the Scottish League One, as he signed for Montrose FC in March.
