A PROFESSIONAL tennis player is launching a campaign to bring his business dreams to life.
Fourth-year French and Spanish student and CEO of Cancha, Jack Oswald, has invented a durable life-proof backpack designed to keep up with an active, travel-hungry lifestyle.
He said: “The aim of The Ascendant pack began with a desire to make life easier for athletes travelling on tour.
“But I soon became aware of the demand for a highly adaptable, customisable pack that went beyond my own needs.“
After spending more than two years perfecting the design, Cancha is set to launch its campaign on Indiegogo next month, where backers will receive a 30 per cent discount of the planned retail price.
Despite training for five hours a day and working on his studies, Oswald has still managed to find time for his business initiative.
He spotted a gap in the market, and has designed a prototype that separates Cancha from its competitors.
Oswald explained that the bags’ unique modular attachment framework is based on the British and American military-grade design.
This added feature allows backers to customise their pack with pre-existing attachments, or Cancha’s own range of add-ons that support a wide range of sports and activities.
Oswald added: “Cancha believes that everyone deserves the opportunity to pursue their passions.
“The Ascendant pack has interchangable shoulder straps, as well as compression straps for carrying bulky items like camera tripods.
“It is made from high tenacity, abrasion-resistant nylon fabric that is sourced from environmentally friendly suppliers and features water resistant zips.”
Oswald draws a lot of inspiration from his father, who has owned his own business since he was young.
He said: “I always thought I would like to get into the business world, but I never thought it would be so soon. It all came together at the right time.”
The proof will be in how much the online campaign raises, but Oswald is optimistic about Cancha’s prospects.
He said: “Early next year, we will ship out the bag to all our backers, before hopefully becoming a fully-fledged company.
“I already have people asking me where they can buy the bag, which is amazing.
“It’s hard work but enjoyable, and that’s what this brand is about. Making the journey just as enjoyable as the destination.”
