Commuters were met with major delays after a person was struck by a train on a line between Dunblane and Stirling.
The incident occurred around 10:10am and emergency services were called to the scene, where unfortunately the person was pronounced dead by ambulance crews.
Scotrail posted to twitter that the line was closed for this reason and kept commuters updated.
A British Transport Police spokeswoman said: “Officers were called to the line in Stirling at 10.12am this morning following reports of a casualty on the tracks.
“Paramedics also attended however sadly a person has been pronounced dead at the scene.
“Officers are now working to identify them and inform their family.
“The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a report will be prepared for the Procurator Fiscal.”
The stretch of line was closed for just over an hour, with emergency services declaring the line safe for trains to run as normal at 11:30am.
Services between Glasgow and Aberdeen were the worst affected with rail tickets being accepted on buses to counter any delays.
