One of the UK’s leading suppliers of digital textbooks Kortext has announced the creation of the free student eTextbook programme (FSTP) which is available to all 180+ universities in the UK and Ireland for the rest of the semester.
This programme allows all university students to access their core course textbooks online.
The textbooks available from the programme are from a wide variety of publishers including Pearson Education, McGraw Hill, Cengage, Taylor & Francis, Wiley, Cambridge University Press, Oxford University Press and SAGE Publishing.
A number of other universities in the UK such as Liverpool University and Manchester University are already using the programme to try and minimise the impact of coronavirus on learning and teaching.
If students dont see the book that they require they can contact the library to request access
The programme is supported by Microsoft’s Azure cloud service and Microsoft’s Vice President of education Anthony Salcito has described the company’s “delight” at being able to help implement the programme.
The founder and CEO of Kortext James Gray described the scale of the programme as “truly ground-breaking”.
Gray added: “Only by pulling together as a sector has the programme been made possible and ensured we are able to support all UK students with an unprecedented amount of content on a single, customisable digital bookshelf for free, thus ensuring they can continue to study at this crucial time of year.”
Stirling classes were moved online in March in response to the Coronavirus outbreak to protect student and staff health.
