Stirling MSP Bruce Crawford has welcomed additional funding from the Scottish Government to help students in hardship during the Coronavirus pandemic.
The £5m fund offered by the Scottish Government is available through the University and students should apply through the university website.
The Coronavirus pandemic has left many students in hardship with many unable to continue work, a number of students will be on zero hours contracts or working within the hospitality business that has been forced to shut down.
The UK Government recently extended lock down for another 3 weeks, with a review due on the 7th May. We are being encouraged to still stay indoors and only go outside for essential shopping, essential travel and daily exercise.
Mr Crawford said: “I warmly welcome this package of further support to students in these unprecedented times, which will go some way in providing the support that our students need right now.”
Crawford also praised student members of the community for stepping up to volunteer, praising student nurses taking up roles on the NHS Forth Valley front line: “We’re rightly proud of the fantastic contribution they make to our communities, cities and villages.”
