Stirling University’s LGBTQ+ society will take part in a virtual pride march this month.
This comes after news that the first ever Forth Valley pride march has been cancelled due to the current coronavirus pandemic.
President of the Stirling University LGBTQ+ society Hale McGrath said: “It does feel like a real shame not to be able to take part in a Pride march this year because that connection does really help.
“It’s such betrayal of communities because these marches really help to show just how far we have come as well as the diversity.”
As well as planning on the march being virtual, the society also set up an online discord group where LGBTQ+ students are able to reach out to each other during the coronavirus pandemic.
McGrath said: “I think the thing most of us are really lacking at the minute is the sense of community from being in-person and interacting with other LGBTQ+ people.
“It can really take a toll when you are not around other people who understand your identity or accept you the same way.”
The virtual march will take place later this month.
