Flood Alert in place for stirling area

The Met Office has issued a weather warning for thunderstorms in Stirling this evening.

The Scottish Environment Protection Agency has also issued a flood alert for the Stirling Council area.

According to the Scottish Environment Protection Agency , a flood alert is “is an early indication of potential flooding from rivers, the sea and surface water. It is issued for larger geographical areas – usually the boundaries of local authorities.”

Last year, less than 24 hours before graduation ,Stirling experienced flooding which impacted on university buildings and accommodation.

In a tweet Stirling Council said they have “placed sandbags outside the Callander and Springkerse road depots for emergency use”.
