TAXI COMPANY Stirling Taxis have gone the extra mile to ensure customers are safe in their travels.

The company had posted on social media advising its customers that their fleet of cars had been fitted with protective shields, they revealed that they have gone out of their way to bulk buy a large amount of face masks, which are made available to any customer who did not have one for a small charge of 30p.

Joint managers Craig and Nicole Haire said: “We have bought them in bulk to be able to get them for a reasonable price.“We have them available for customers to buy at 30p in case they don’t have their own face covering.“It allows them to stay compliant with the new laws if they have been caught out and need a taxi without planning in advance.”

The taxi company also promoted their use of contactless payments and locally sourced alcohol gel, both made available to all customers.

Craig and Nicole Haire are at the heart of the changes, and they have said that safety is the number one priority during this unprecedented time.

They said: “We have been trying our best to keep our staff and drivers as safe as possible.

“We have found a local upholster that was able to make the shields for us.

“The alcohol gel we have in each of our cars was supplied by Stirling Gin and we’ve tried to encourage people to pay contactless – whether through the app or in the cars.

“We have also managed to get all of our dispatchers working from home.”

First Minister Nicola Sturgeon announced that it is now compulsory to wear face coverings on all public transport, which includes buses, planes, ferries and taxis.

Given the ever-changing scenario with government guidelines, the duo ensured face masks were made available to fares that do not have one on them.
