The much loved Stirling local pub the Settle Inn has launched a fundraiser to ensure they can reopen after facing financial difficulties throughout the pandemic.
Kerry McBride who works at the Settle Inn stepped in to start the fundraiser after fears the pub may not be able to reopen. One of the owners Leslie was worried as a lot of stock is now out of date and unable to be used. With no money coming in they may not have enough to replenish the stock and be able to open.
Kerry who launched the campaign said, “Lesley and Jock had no idea about the fundraiser. I asked how much she would need to get opened again and I took it from there. They now know about it and are blown away by the support and don’t know how to thank people.”
The kind owners put their own £50 into the pot for the weekly pub quiz and are well loved by many in the local community. The Settle Inn is known for being a treasured part of the Stirlings nightlife. Many clubs and societies rely on the pub for their social events.
Roddy Wilson previous president of Stirling’s Rock and Metal Society (RAMS) said:
“For the last 2 years we’ve held frequent events, ranging from pre-club meet ups to evenings celebrating female, LGBTQ+ and BAME artists in rock and metal. Settle Inn staying open allows RAMS to continue these type of events and provide a place for our members and the community to go to hear the music they love.”
The fundraiser has now reached well above its £2000 target and has been shared hundreds of times. You can donate at GoFundMe here.
