1 min read

Yesterday afternoon a man escaped being put under civilian arrest in the Causewayhead Co-op. Standing approximately 6ft tall and in his 30s, he wielded a broken wine bottle at members of staff and members of the public.

The man in question was accused by a member of staff in the store that he was shoplifting as he made for the entrance with items unpaid for from the alcohol sales part of the shop.

Being pinned down by staff and members of the public, the man became very violent. After smashing bottles and breaking free of the grip on him the man then threatened members of both staff and public as he made his way out the store and onto the main road in escape of the event.

The Police were informed and made their way to the store where they clearly identified the man on CCTV.
