A small number of students who live in Andrew Stewart Hall, which is based on the university campus, have recently tested positive for coronavirus.
The students and their close contacts are all self-isolating.
University staff are providing advice and support to all the students involved, in partnership with the local NHS Test and Protect team.
In a university announcement they have said: “Only those who have already been identified as close contacts need to self-isolate and the risk to the wider University and local community remains low.”
“The campus is unaffected and remains open, with robust measures in place.”
They continued to say: “The prompt and responsible actions of those students involved – and the support provided by our staff – has helped to minimise the risk posed to themselves and others, here at the University and in the wider local community.”
Students are also being encouraged to keep up-to-date with the latest health advice at NHS Inform and to download and use NHS Protect Scotland app.
The university announcement also encouraged students to look after their mental health. The university announcement said: “We are all facing very challenging and uncertain times and it is therefore important that you look after your mental health and wellbeing.”
“Support and advice is available from the Student Support Services team and students can also access the anonymous online wellbeing platform togetherall. Colleagues are able to use the University’s Employee Assistance Programme, which is available 24/7.”
“Advice on looking after yourself and supporting each other is also available on the national Clear Your Headwebsite.”
