Rangers 4-0 Aberdeen
Rangers continued their fine start to the Scottish Premiership season as they brushed third-placed Aberdeen aside with a 4-0 victory.
Goals from Ryan Kent, Kemar Roofe and Scott Arfield gave the Gers a commanding lead, before James Tavernier’s penalty rounded off an impressive win at Ibrox.
This was Rangers’ 17th clean sheet in all competitions this season and moved them 11 points clear of arch rivals Celtic – though they have played two games more.
Hibernian 2-2 Celtic
Celtic struggled yet again and were forced to come from two goals down against Hibernian to salvage a point. Rangers loanee Jamie Murphy had given the home side the lead after Kevin Nisbet seen a penalty saved by Scott Bain, before Nisbet himself doubled his side’s lead.
Odsonne Edouard halved the deficit with a penalty of his own ten minutes from time, and the comeback was complete one minute into stoppage time after Diego Laxalt scored his first goal for the Hoops.
Neil Lennon’s side have now won just one of their last four league games.
Dundee United 2-1 Hamilton Accies
Nicky Clark scored a late double as Dundee United came from behind to beat Hamilton Accies at Tannadice.
Ross Callachan had given Accies the lead after 65 minutes and his side looked to be holding on, but two goals in four minutes from Clark were enough for United to take all three points.
They now have a cushion in fifth place, while Accies remain rooted to the foot of the table.
St Johnstone 1-1 Motherwell
St Johnstone and Motherwell played out a 1-1 draw in a game devout of many real chances.
Mark O’Hara put the Steelmen in front 17 minutes in, but a Bevis Mugabi foul allowed Stevie May to equalise from the penalty spot as half-time approached.
Neither side were able to find a winner and rued missed chances to close in on the top six.
Kilmarnock 3-1 Ross County
Ross County were unable to take advantage of ten-man Kilmarnock as they slipped to defeat at Rugby Park.
Stuart Findlay was shown a red card after just eight minutes, but that didn’t distract the home side from the task at hand as they took the lead six minutes later through Eamonn Brophy.
Tom Grivosti equalised for County just before half-time, but second half strikes from Nicke Kabamba and Chris Burke gave Killie a hard-fought victory.
Livingston 0-1 St Mirren
Livingston’s poor home record continued on Saturday as St Mirren went home with a much-needed three points.
Jake Doyle-Hayes’ strike ended an eight-game winless run for the Buddies and led Livingston boss Gary Holt to question whether he is the right man to take the club forward.
The home side remain in tenth, while the Paisley side climbed to within one point of them – with three games in hand.
