Gerrard names Rangers rule-breakers

All five players will be fined by the club.

Steven Gerrard has named the five Rangers players who breached COVID-19 regulations by attending a party.

The Rangers boss confirmed that Bongani Zungu, Calvin Bassey, Nathan Patterson, Dapo Mebude and Brian Kinnear are those being forced to self-isolate after the incident.

The players will be fined, and the club are in contact with both the SFA and the Scottish government to find a suitable solution.

Zungu, Patterson and Bassey were all in contention for Rangers’ Europa League last-32 match against Royal Antwerp tomorrow. Medube is on loan at Championship side Queen of the South, while Kinnear is part of the youth setup at Ibrox.

Gerrard told Rangers TV that he feels “let down” and that he is “trying to move forward and focus on the important things,”.

An investigation revealed the players breached lockdown rules by attending a party in the early hours of Sunday morning.

The results come just two months after Rangers players Jordan Jones and George Edmundson were given a two week ban by the club after attending an illegal house party – both were subsequently sent out on loan in January.
