The Mulberry Bush Montessori Balfron 10k will not take place this year due to the current coronavirus restrictions.

The Mulberry Bush Montessori Balfron 10k is one of the most notable local events alongside the Stirling marathon, which was also delayed past its start date.

In a statement, the Balfron 10k committee said they had arrived at the decision which they described as “difficult”, “after careful consideration”

The statement continues by outlining other dates or timelines and why they were not suitable.

“Throughout this new lockdown period we have been closely monitoring all advice and guidelines being given by the Scottish Government. We had looked at postponing the event into September/October 2021 as some races are doing, but since it now seems likely there will still be social distancing restrictions in place around that date, it would be impossible to organise and deliver the community event that is the Mulberry Bush Montessori Balfron 10k.

“Also, if we did reschedule our race for Autumn 2021 but were forced to postpone again, it would be mean months of planning and effort by our volunteers would be wasted, and further disappointment heaped on our entrants.

“We will instead now focus on running our race in 2022.”

Any participant who is unable to partake in the event in 2022 can ask for a refund of £15.72 for those runners who are not a member of Scottish athletics, or £13.72 for those who are a member of Scottish Athletics, by emailing entry@balfron10k.org.uk.
