Former Stirling MP tops Tory list for Central Scotland

1 min read

Stirling’s former MP is at the top of the Conservative list of candidates for Central Scotland.

Stephen Kerr, who was elected in 2017, held the seat for two years before Alyn Smith won Stirling for the SNP in 2019.

His time as Stirling’s MP saw two visits to the town from Theresa May, once as Prime Minister and once after she had left Downing Street as well as work on the Stirling City Region Deal.

Also on the Central Scotland list is 14-year veteran Stirling Councillor Neil Benny, the leader of the council’s Conservative group.

Benny, a Stirling local, was elected to the council in 2007 and chairs the Audit Committee.
