The leader of the Scottish Labour Party Anas Sarwar is self isolating after a fellow member of his household has tested positive for COVID-19
A Scottish Labour spokesperson said:
“Anas Sarwar is self-isolating as a result of a member of his household testing positive for Covid-19.
Mr Sarwar is well and will continue to fulfil his role in the Scottish Parliament remotely for the period of his self-isolation.”
Recent data suggests that between 11th May and the 17th May this year 648 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Glasgow
To help combat the high number of cases in the city , the local health board NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde issued a statement stating
“Vaccination appointments are available to people aged 18-39 for those living in the affected areas of Glasgow City. It is likely that these appointments will be available from next week onwards and we would encourage people in the local communities who are eligible for a vaccination to have it.
The statement continued “We would like to encourage all residents of Greater Glasgow and Clyde to continue to follow Scottish Government guidelines, take your vaccination when offered and make use of our asymptomatic testing facilities to ensure if you unknowingly have the virus, you can then self-isolate and help to stop the spread.”
