COP 26: Fridays for Future youth march

1 min read

Up to 10,000 hit the streets of Glasgow yesterday to attend the youth climate march.

The event was organised by Fridays for Future, an international climate justice group.

Starting at Kelvingrove Park, the march went through the city centre and ended at George Square.

The march was led by Indigenous Amazonian youth from Brazil and Ecuador.

Many of them spoke at George Square later in the day, sharing their experiences of climate change.

Greta Thunberg also spoke.

She started her speech by saying “It is not a secret that COP26 is a failure.”

Over the course of COP26, she has been very vocal about how she feels the conference has failed.

Other speakers included activists from Uganda, the Philippines and Colombia.

From young school children to old men, all kinds of people were in attendance.

Many came armed with provocative and powerful signage.
