Stirling Albion have announced the shock departure of manager Kevin Rutkiewicz.
After taking over from Dave MacKay in September 2018, Rutkiewicz steadily improved Albion all over the pitch, while significantly reducing the average age of the squad.
The 41-year-old held the highest win rate of any manager in the league with over 100 games in charge, until Albion lost their last four league games in a row.
A club statement released on Thursday read: “The Club Board was today surprised to be advised by Kevin Rutkiewicz of his resignation from his position as First Team Manager with immediate effect.
“We would like to thank Kevin for everything he has done during his time as manager. His commitment, hard work, energy and enthusiasm are unrivalled anywhere in Scottish football.
The former defender also asked the club to publish a statement on his behalf which said: “After a brief and interesting meeting on Tuesday evening with the Chairman I have decided that the time is right to step away from Stirling Albion FC and seek a new challenge.

There is quite clearly a difference in opinion on how this season has gone (as a whole) with a mutual understanding the last few weeks have been below par.
“I walk away with no money. I walk away knowing I’ve done a good job. I have faced defeat, draw, and victory every step of the way not shirking any responsibility. As a young manager I adapted to the most unique time in recent football history being played (or not) during COVID. The team is better, the squad is healthier, and this group can deliver success.
“I would like to thank the Board, the fans but mostly all of the players and staff involved now and before. The manager that comes in will be the envy of many.”
