At the time of writing, the other candidate Liz Truss, the Foreign Secretary has declined to participate in the interview.

Channel 4’s Conservative Party leadership debate which was chaired by Kristian Guru Murphy was watched by an audience of over two million people.

Ian Rumsey, Managing Director of ITN Productions, said: “The contest to become Britain’s next Prime Minister affects us all. With Tory members about to be sent their ballot papers, it’s only right the candidates are subjected to the most rigorous scrutiny – and there is no more forensic interviewer than Andrew Neil.”

Louisa Compton, Head of News and Current Affairs and Specialist Factual and Sport said: “After the success of our first audience debate, we’re delighted that Rishi Sunak has confirmed he will be interviewed by Andrew Neil on Channel 4. We hope that Liz Truss also now agrees – and allows the British public to better understand what she stands for.”

The programme will be available to watch via All4 or on Channel 4 this Friday at 7.30 p.m.
