At the 2022 VMAs Taylor Swift announced on stage that her 10th album was dropping on October 21.

Entitled ‘Midnights’, she said on her Instagram that the album will follow ‘the stories of 13 sleepless nights scattered throughout my life.’

Swift won Video of the Year for the video of ‘All Too Well (10-minute version)’ from her re-recording of her ‘Red’ album, making her the only person to ever win the award three times.

During this momentous occasion, she said how her fans ‘emboldened’ her to re-record her albums, a plight started over a dispute over the ownership of her records with her old label ‘Big Machine Records’ and music manager Scooter Braun.

“I had sort of made up my mind that if you were going to be this generous and give us this then I thought it might be a fun moment to tell you that my brand new album comes out October 21st.

“And I will tell you more at midnight.”

At that moment her website changed to a clock with a new colour scheme of soft purples and blues. An Instagram story was also uploaded of a digital alarm clock turning to Midnight.

Later on, the album cover was revealed, a photo of Swift holding a lighter, on her social media with more details about ‘Midnights’.

“This is a collection of music written in the middle of the night, a journey through terrors and sweet dreams.

“For all of us who have tossed and turned and decided to keep the lanterns lit and go searching – hoping that just maybe when the clock strikes twelve… we’ll meet ourselves.”

Fans had been speculating for weeks about what was coming next with most guessing another re-recording was on the way.
