Outlander star Sam Heughan will be in Edinburgh on Sunday to promote his new book Waypoints. A memoir, the book takes readers on a dual journey into the Scottish Highlands and through the actor’s life. UK publisher Radar described the book as “a love letter to the wild Scottish landscape that means so much to Sam.”
As he walks the West Highland way, Heughan reflects on the experiences that have shaped his life so far. Waypoints is the result of these reflections. About the journey, the actor said: “I needed to challenge myself and spend more time in my own company, away from the distractions of everyday life. And for me there’s no better place to reflect than in the wild Scottish Highlands.”
Heughan will be live in conversation at McEwan Hall in Edinburgh on October 23, ahead of the book’s release on the 25th. The event, styled as an evening with the award-winning actor, promises to be “a glorious evening” according to event organiser Fane Productions. Heughan is expected to speak about his career spanning theatre, film and TV, his Scottish roots, the waypoints that have defined his life, and his hopes and plans for the future.
The Edinburgh event is the first of two UK stops on the Waypoints book tour. While the Edinburgh date is sold out, tickets are still available for the second date at the Barbican Centre in London on October 24. Those who are unable to attend the event in person needn’t despair: the London event will be streamed live all over the world and signed copies will be available to purchase online.
