BBC Introducing announce shortlist for Scottish Act of the Year 2024

The shortlisted acts for BBC Introducing Scottish Act of the Year 2024 have been announced. Hundreds of artists have submitted their tracks to the BBC with eight acts making the shortlist.

The public will now vote to decide who will make it into the final round.

The BBC say that the BBC Introducing Scottish Act of the Year 2024 nominees includes a varied range of musical talent and genres that contribute to Scotland’s vibrant music scene.

Voting for the awards opened on March 15 and will close at 11.00pm on March 19. The winner of the public vote will be announced on Friday, March 22, at 8.15pm on BBC Introducing in Scotland.

The top four finalists will perform in a live broadcast on Saturday, March 30. 

The judges for 2024’s competition include Jess Iszatt, BBC Introducing Presenter for Radio 1, Sam McTrusty from Twin Atlantic, Ross Leighton from Fatherson, and Bemz, a rapper and past BBC Introducing Scottish Act of the Year in 2022.

The winner will not only be awarded with this title but they will also receive incredible opportunities. These include a slot at music festival TRNSMT as well as two recording sessions with BBC Radio Scotland and a PR campaign from Electric Shores Publicity.
