A by-election is set to take place for Bannockburn (Stirling Council Ward 7) on Thursday, 23 January 2025, following the vacancy created in the council seat.
The election will determine who will fill the position left open following the departure of a councillor.

Moira Benny: Scottish Conservative and Unionist
Bob Buchanan: Scottish National Party (SNP)
Yvonne Dickson: Scottish Labour Party
William Docherty: ReformUK – Changing Politics for Good
William Galloway: Scottish Liberal Democrats
Marie Stadtler: Scottish Greens
Election Day Details
The by-election will be held on Thursday, 23 January 2025, with polling stations open from 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM. Voters in Bannockburn will be asked to select one candidate to represent them in Stirling Council.
Voter Registration and Voting Options
If you can vote in Ward 7, you must be registered to vote by Tuesday, 7 January 2025. You can register online at gov.uk/register-to-vote.
For those unable to attend the polling station in person, postal voting and proxy voting options are available.
Postal voting applications must be submitted by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, 8 January 2025.
Proxy voting applications must be received by 5:00 PM on Wednesday, 15 January 2025.
Additionally, emergency proxy voting can be arranged until 5:00 PM on Thursday, 23 January 2025 in cases such as illness or unexpected work commitments.
