Regular readers of Brig will recall that we greatly enjoyed A Jaffa Cake Musical when it appeared at the 2024 Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Good news for all law students, trainee accountants, and anyone with a passing interest in baking, is that the show will be returning to this year’s Fringe. Details of venue and show times will be confirmed nearer to the Fringe, which takes place across Edinburgh in August each year.
The creatives behind Jaffa Cake are also responsible for Scouts! The Musical, which also returns for a tour of English venues in June. Throughout June the show will tour to The Crescent Theatre in Birmingham, The Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester, Upstairs at the Gatehouse in London & The Egg Theatre in Bath.
This will be the last chance for people to see both Scouts! The Musical and A Jaffa Cake Musical. Scouts! The Musical, created in partnership with the Scouts, centres around the fictional Scout Games, whereas A Jaffa Cake Musical is inspired by the 1991 tribunal which determined the true identity of a Jaffa Cake
Gigglemug Theatre’s debut show was the Fringe hit Timpson: The Musical, which was sponsored by everyone’s favourite high street cobbler and locksmith, Timpson. Their follow up show was RuneSical, an interactive musical based on the BAFTA-winning online game RuneScape and supported by the game makers themselves. Both productions are available to watch for free on YouTube.
