Stirling Council is inviting expressions of interest for a new advisory forum that will help shape how money from the city’s upcoming visitor levy is spent.

The Stirling Visitor Levy Advisory Forum will play a key role in overseeing the implementation of the scheme, which was approved in December 2025.

Visitor levies, often described as a “tourist tax”, are used in many destinations to reinvest money from visitors back into local services and infrastructure.

The levy will add a 3% charge to overnight accommodation bookings made from January 2027 and apply to stays from 14th June 2027 onwards.

The Forum is intended to bring together representatives from across Stirlingshire’s tourism sector, including local businesses, community voices and tourism organisations.

Its role will be to advise on how the scheme operates and to provide guidance on how the revenue generated should be invested.

Final decisions on spending will remain with Stirling Council, but will be made following consultation with Forum members.

An independent chair is expected to lead the group, with their appointment currently awaiting formal confirmation. Members of the Forum will serve in voluntary, non-executive roles, although expenses will be covered.

According to the Council, the group will be regularly reviewed to ensure it remains representative of the region’s tourism industry and local communities.

Those interested in joining the Forum are required to submit a CV and a covering letter of up to 400 words, with applications open until Sunday 12 April 2026.

More information about the scheme and application process is available on the Stirling Council website.
