The Nextbike Stirling scheme, run by Santander Cycles Stirling, is ending abruptly on Sunday 11 October, after three years of providing sustainable and accessible bike travel to Stirling students and residents.

The announcement was made to Nextbike users today, 9 October, two days before the end of the scheme.

The scheme offered a free-30 minute use to University of Stirling students and staff, funded by the university’s corporate subscription with Nextbike.

Nextbike confirmed that accounts with remaining credit will be refunded in the next 60 days.

Nextbike said in their announcement: “Since launching, the nextbike Stirling scheme has been on an incredible journey – with over 100,000 rides in the last 3 years taken by more than 26,000 registered users.”

“However, the time has come to say goodbye. The nextbike service will officially end on 11th  October 2026.”

Brig has approached the University of Stirling and Nexbike for comment. This article will be updated as soon as we know more.
