Stirling Pride kicks off today at the University of Stirling where the LGBTQ+ Society have a full programme of events that you don’t want to miss.
The society have been working tirelessly to make sure there’s a jam packed week of events both day and night. From daily stalls to queer storytelling workshops, and a queer dance party to bring things to an end, it’ll be a Pride to remember.
The President of the LGBTQ+ Society, Rory MacLellan told Brig:
“StirPride 2022 is the biggest programmeof events to LGBTQ+ Society as ever organised and one of the largest events hosted in the University since the start of the pandemic. We’re absolutely thrilled to be hosting StirPride in person again and to deliver an exciting programme – 19 events in total!”
StirPride week 2022 will run from today, Monday 21 February until Friday 25.
Day one is all about love and pride and here is what you can expect:
- Love and Pride stalls in the Atrium from 10am-4pm
- Rebel Dykes screening and Oral History workshop, in the McRoberts Art Centre from 1-4pm
- UV dodgeball with UoS Sport from 7:45-9:15pm at UoS Sport Centre Hall 2
Day two brings focus to community building and representation:
- Daily Stalls in the Atrium 10am-4pm
- Moments: Poloroid pics in the Atrium from 12-2pm
- Queer storytelling workshop hosted by OurStory Scotland from 2-3pm in The Union
- Drag Bingo at The Union from 7-11:59pm
Day three brings us Queer Activism with the following fabulous events:
- Daily Stalls from 10am-4pm in the Atrium
- Community Open Space in the Library Level 2 at 11am-12pm
- HIV and Syphillis testing by SX Scotland in Cottrell Building, Room 2A75 1-3pm
- Queer book swap at the Book Nook (24 Upper Craigs Stirling) 7:30-9pm
Day four is all about Careers and Employability and here is the line up:
- Daily Stalls in the Atrium 10am-4pm
- Mocktail Mixer at Haldanes Restaurant 1-3pm
- Pride in the Workplace: A workshop with CES in Cottrell building Room LTV1 2-3pm
- Queer Musical Workshop with the Musical Theatre Society in Cottrell, LT2A3 7-9pm
Day five – the last day but certainly not the least brings Nightlife and the scene to StirPride:
- Daily Stalls in the Atrium 10am-4pm
- Homonationalism Talk by the Amnesty Society 3-4pm
- Gender-bend Hairstyling at Brown Bear’s Salon (Barnton St) 7-8pm
- Vivacious – Queer Dance Party at Kilted Kangaroo 9pm-2am (Stirling’s only queer club for one night only!)
You’ve seen the line up so by now you must be ready to start your StirPride 2022 – there’s lots to do, and friends to meet so make sure you make the most of all the fabulous events organised by the Lgbtq+ Society.
