With the current cost of living crisis, it’s not as affordable to go see a film or go out for dinner as it used to be. This makes Valentine’s Day a challenge for those who are on a budget.
Whether with your partner or with friends, it’s always nice to be able to do something for Valentines Day so here are five things you can do on a budget in Stirling for Valentines Day:
1 – Cook together!
Pick a meal you both love and cook it together. If you’re not much of a chef that’s fine too, there’s plenty of ready made options.
Check out supermarkets for any Valentines deals they may have on. Lidl for example is a fairly affordable supermarket for everyone, and they have released limited time Valentines Day themed items. There’s a whole frozen selection featuring items such as heart shaped pizza, chicken nuggets and potatoes, as well as desserts like souffle, choux buns and heart mochis.
Set up your favorite film and enjoy the night together without breaking the bank!
2- Bake together!
There’s a number of Valentine’s Day treats that you could bake, have a fun night decorating cakes and cookies and enjoy it with a mug of hot chocolate! Challenge yourself and make things you’ve never made before!
3- Go for a romantic walk!
Why not try the walk up to the Wallace Monument? Even if you don’t go in, the walk up is lovely and can be very romantic. The views are amazing and it’s a great way to spend time with and get to know someone. Afterwards, grab yourself a coffee in the cafe at the bottom!
4 – Do crafts together!
Head to Poundland and grab cheap art supplies!
Whether is painting together or DIY pottery its a fun way to spend the evening. And if you’re not particularly an artist that’s not a problem – it will make memories either way!
5- Create an at home cinema experience!
Get a selection of movies for your partner or friends to pick, make fake tickets and set up a concession stand with all your favorite snacks! To enhance the experience even more, have a no phone rule!
Valentine’s Day may not be everyone’s favorite holiday, but everyone should be able to enjoy it regardless of their circumstances.
