The Inevitable Let-down of the Apple Vision Pro

Summary

The Apple Vision Pro leaves much to be desired

The recently released Apple Vision Pro has disappointed many Apple users. With some owners already returning their new device.

This 3D camera Apple released in February this year, and with that came a mixed bag of reviews.

Issues

Many users quickly reported cracks along the middle of the front screen. This is likely due to overheating that is common with VR/AR headsets. The screen is made of laminated glass, (according to Apple) but has quickly been discovered as plastic. The screen scratches easily as well as being prone to cracking.

Some users were fortunate enough to get theirs repaired for free, but others needed to pay up to $800, (£636). This is on top of the initial price of a headset: $3,499, (£2,782).

The Apple Vision Pro is not immune to the common user issues that come with VR headsets. Users have complained about headaches from the tight straps and bright light so close to their eyes. The headset also weighs over 600 grams. To some that may not sound like a lot, but carrying 600 grams on your head for two hours will quickly get uncomfortable.

Following, Apple’s trend of disappointing battery life, the Apple Vision Pro reportedly lasts two and a half hours before it needs to charge.

Apple’s Growing Record of Low Quality

The tech company has a long history of selling subpar products for disproportionate prices.

When the iPhone 6 released, users reported that they could bend the phone in their hands.

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro reached 47.1 degrees Celsius from everyday use; making it too hot to touch.

The company enjoys a $2.62 trillion (£2 trillion) net worth as of April 2024. And its iPhone has a 24.7 per cent market share. They can afford to make products that work for affordable prices. Yet, they don’t.

Now, the Apple Vision Pro is just another example of Apple’s consistent lack of quality in favour of high prices.
