Stirling Studios refurbishments will be underway in February 2025 after securing a £6 million procurement contract.
In April 2024, Stirling Council announced plans to turn the old Ministry of Defence site in the Forthside area into a film studio campus.
Stirling Studios will be among the biggest film studio campuses in Scotland and is estimated to create more than 4000 jobs over 25 years in film and production roles, among other supply services.
The £6 million procurement contract was funded from £19.1 million received from the UK Government’s Levelling Up Fund in March 2023.
The majority of the funding will be used to refurbish the existing 160,000 square-foot building, which is projected to become the main hub for the campus.
As for the rest of the 34-acre site, the majority of the works are to ensure compliance with current building standards regulations and are mostly mechanical and electrical in nature.
The works are anticipated to begin in February 2025 and be completed by January 2026.

Stirling Council Leader, Cllr Margaret Brisley said: “This is just the beginning of what will be a transformative journey for the Forthside site and the wider area.
“The establishment of Stirling Studios, in particular, will position us on the global creative stage and provide significant social and economic boosts to the Stirling area for many years to come.”
Stirling Studios is part of a wider development plan for the Forthside area. The site will be a “medium to long term development” to deliver on the Council’s and Government’s Net Zero targets.
Active travel routes and increasing biodiversity will be key to the development. The area will also be used to increase public transport options for Stirling’s surrounding villages.
Stirling Council are set to publish an updated masterplan before the end of this year. The original consultation can be accessed here.
