Palestinian solidarity protest to take place in Stirling

On Friday 15 November, Palestinian Independence Day, Forth Valley and Stirling residents will gather in a solidarity protest at the Kings Street roundabout to show support for the people of Palestine and Lebanon.

Announced on Global Justice Stirling’s Instagram account, the protest will begin at the King Street roundabout at 2pm. The post encourages attendees to “bring a flag, a friend, and your voice”.

It will start with a rally and speeches followed by a march to the office of local MP Chris Kane.

There they will directly appeal to the MP to end the UK’s support of the war on Palestine and Lebanon.

The announcement states that Chris Kane represents a Labour administration, under which the UK has continued to sell arms to Israel.

It goes on to explain that an early day motion to impose sanctions on Israel has been tabled in Westminster and 60 MPs have signed it; however: “Chris Kane has not, and has so far not given a response as to why not”.

A press release from Global Justice Stirling said: “The Stirling Solidarity Protest is open to all who stand in solidarity with Palestine and Lebanon. The event will be peaceful and respectful, with safety measures in place for all participants.”
