This year look out for the Baking society as you scurry round the Stirling Uni Christmas market. No – they won’t be selling their own delicious baked goods, (you’ll have to go to a meeting to find those) but Christmas decorations. These will cost you £2 with the option to pay more if you wish, all proceeds going to Marie Curie.
As the UK’s leading end of life care charity, Marie Curie’s goal is to allow for painless and dignified death from terminal illnesses. They provide care across the UK while one in four people do not get the end of life care that they need. In Scotland Marie Curie have a range of services, providing hospice care at home and at one of their two locations, have a companion volunteer program, support policy about palliative care and work to fund palliative and end of life research.
The Baking Society committee made salt dough bases, and Art Club lent their supplies and together the bakers and artists combined their talents on a cosy November evening this week. With a bit of Christmas music and holiday cheer both societies ended up having made enough decorations to sell at the upcoming market. President of the Baking Society Ellen commented on the event saying: “I’m so grateful that, as a society we have the ability to help fundraise for such worth while causes. I am also incredibly thankful for the support we have received in making this event possible!” President of Art Club Emily adding: “We’re grateful to take part in something for a good cause”.
With the people at the meeting having first dibs 12 decorations have already been sold so if any of these bad boys tickle your fancy act fast. Additionally if you’re just wanting to donate but not looking for a new decoration there will be an option for that at the stall as well or you can donate directly to Marie Curie via their website. Get your Christmas spirit on, and pop by the stall on the November 18, 2:30 to 5:30!
