Inside the Pole Fitness Give it a Go

2 mins read

Stirling’s Pole Fitness club hosted their spring GIAG today.

With three slots from 12:30 to 15:30, newcomers could come and learn some pole moves and get a feel of what the society is like on the inside.

I went for the 12:30 to 13:30 slot, after my seminar. Turns out I was the only non-member there. But it meant I had more one-on-one teaching from the instructor Julia.

She taught me a pirouette, the fireman, angel, the dizzy and a martini. As well as some floor work and spins.

I enjoyed every minute. From remembering where to turn, gaining confidence with spinning and learning moves I didn’t think I could do. It looks so advanced at the start, (pole can be challenging and requires strength and dedication) but with Julia’s instructions, it came to me so easily.

I had done a basic combo at the GIAG last semester, but I couldn’t join the club afterwards due to a lecture clash with the beginner session.

However, I will definitely join the pole fitness club this year and in the future. There is so much more I want to discover. There are moves I want to try and I want to push myself as far as I can go.

Pole Fitness welcomes all genders and skills, you learn more about yourself and gain confidence in yourself and strength. I already felt my self-esteem get stronger as I got better at the moves I learned.
