PlayStation’s February 2025 State of Play – The Biggest Reveals

Wednesday night’s PlayStation State of Play was over 40 minutes long, packed with new trailers of games to keep an eye out for in 2025 and beyond. We’ve gathered a list of some of the biggest announcements below.

Chaotic Family Fun

Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds is a new instalment in the Sonic Racing franchise. The new Travel Rings mechanic spices up courses in real time, allowing players to visit different CrossWorlds in a single race. CrossWorlds also boasts new customisation mechanics which will stir up the gameplay, as well as offering the largest character roster of any Sonic Racing game to date, featuring not just Sonic franchise characters but also SEGA characters. Players have a chance to jump in with the Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds closed beta which will take place later this month, with signups available now.

A new trailer debuted for sci-fantasy action RPG Lost Soul Aside, offering a closer look at the fast-paced gameplay. Pre-Orders are available now, ahead of the games May 30th release date.

Borderlands 4 finally announced its highly anticipated release date of September 23rd. For fans wanting to know more, an additional State of Play focused entirely on Borderlands 4 was announced for later this year, promising a closer look at combat, exploration and of course, all the guns.

Onimusha Returns

Following its surprise announcement at The Game Awards, Capcom has revealed a new look at Onimusha: Way of the Sword, showing off some more story and gameplay content. The game is set to release next year. Additionally, a modernized port of Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny will launch this March, giving both old fans and new players alike a way to prepare for Way of the Sword’s 2026 release.

Over a year since being announced, NEOWIZ have revealed the first Lies of P expansion, Lies of P: Overture. The expansion will follow the Soulslike trend of sending you back in time, where you will find out what happened in Krat leading up to the great puppet frenzy- an event that shaped the world of the base game. We can look forward to returning to Krat later this year, the expansion slated for release during Summer.

Days Gone Remastered got announced for April 25th. The remaster enhances the graphics and adds new content such as permadeath mode and horde assault, as well as updating accessibility features. Days Gone Remastered is available to pre-order now, with a £10 upgrade deal available for players who already own the PS4 version.

Stellar Blade DLC News

A release of June 2025 was revealed for the upcoming Stellar Blade & Goddess of Victory: NIKKE DLC.

Tides of Annihilation is a new upcoming PS5 action adventure game based on Arthurian legend. Set in a destroyed London, you play the role of Gwendolyn who can fight with spectres of the knights of the round table at her side. You can wish list the game now.

Mindseye on the other hand is an action thriller third person shooter set in a dystopian future. Jacob Diaz is a former soldier who has lost some of his memories after a covert mission, and aims to track down the corporation responsible. Mindseye aims for a Summer 2025 release.

Housemarque’s Next Game

The final reveal of the show was new Housemarque game Saros– a spiritual sequel to Returnal. They’ve made some changes to the formula, this time around you can make permanent upgrades to your character in between runs, coming back stronger every time. Saros launches on PS5 next year, but we can expect a first look at the gameplay later this year.
