Sabrina Carpenter released the deluxe version of her Grammy-winning album Short n’ Sweet this Valentine’s Day, an amazing gift to her fans.
Short n’ Sweet has blown up all over, and rightfully so. Now a two-time Grammy winner, Sabrina is definitely taking on the spotlight of pop music. From SNL appearances to a world tour, she is always on our minds.
But just as we thought it couldn’t get any better, she released four amazing new songs plus a new version of Please Please Please featuring the forever iconic Dolly Parton.
What are these new songs
Busy woman is a fun, upbeat song that’ll be stuck in your head for days on end. While being relatable and a little bit silly, there’s an edge of vulnerability to the lyrics with a longing to be wanted. Every woman has felt like Sabrina in this song before!
Bad Reviews has got a bit of a country twang to it, which makes it all the more catchy. This song is sort of similar to Slim Pickins, going into the struggles of modern dating and ignoring red flags to find love. With lines such as “I can’t lose another boy that’s not even my boyfriend,” anyone who has had a few bad situationships will definitely resonate with this song!
Couldn’t make it any harder really delves into a deeper, more vulnerable side of her music. This is a really relatable song, delving into how insecurity leads to pushing people who just want to love us away. We don’t see much of this side of Sabrina’s music in Short n’ Sweet, so it’s nice to get a taste of this style with the deluxe version.
15 minutes is definitely the funnest of the new songs. This is one of those songs you jump around your bedroom dancing to and singing into your hairbrush like it’s a microphone. Definitely add it to the playlist of songs you listen to get hyped up!
Please please please (feat. Dolly Parton), as if the already popular song couldn’t get more iconic! Seeing Sabrina go from performing a cover of 9 to 5 on stage to collaborating with the legendary Dolly Parton is incredible to see. This new, clean version is fun, a little bit country and radio ready. The only thing that’s missing is that Dolly doesn’t have her own verse in the song, which would’ve been great to hear.
Overall, this new deluxe version of this album is definitely 5 stars, and leaves us wondering why these songs weren’t put out sooner!
