A new Minecraft update dropped today (Tuesday March 25th), here’s everything you need to know.
Animals
With the new update, there are now new variations of Minecraft animals. Chickens, pigs and cows now have different textures based off of the biome they spawn in.
In cold biomes, cows and pigs look fluffy and chickens will be a blue/gray colour. In sand biomes, they are different variations of brown/orange.
Sheep now have different coloured wool based off the biome they spawn in.
Wolves now make a variation of different noises based on which one of seven personalities they spawn with.
Aesthetics
There’s plenty of new updates for aesthetic purposes.
First of all, leaves now fall from trees and can be seen laying on grass blocks, wildflowers will cover the ground and cactus now have flowers.
A firefly bush has been added, at night you can now observe fireflies fluttering around at night.
Also, there are new ambient noises, such as new noises when walking on sand as well as the sound of wind in certain biomes. All this to make the game more immersive.
There’s also a new look to spawn eggs, with each egg looking like the mob it spawns. This includes characteristics like wings, snouts and horns.
More to come
This isn’t all that Minecraft has in store for us. This summer, there will be a further update, which will bring even more excitement.
The summer 2025 update will bring in a ‘Happy Ghast’. This is a passive version of the regular ghast that can’t spawn naturally.
The new ghasts can only spawn from a dried ghast, which can be find in the Nether. Once found, you can bring it back to the Overworld and rehydrate it by placing it down and pouring a bucket of water over it. It’ll turn into a ghastling and follow you around until it grows up to be a happy ghast.
Once fully grown you can ride the ghast and fly around using a harness with up to four players!
There will also be a new locator bar, which will help you find your friends easier in your world!
Additionally, they will be adding new ‘Vibrant Visuals’ to the game, such as new lighting, shadows and a new glow to mobs and items. This is simply a cosmetic change and won’t change any gameplay features.
That’s all we know so far, but the Minecraft website is always posting updates!
