Massaoke Brings Sing The Musicals to the Edinburgh Fringe

2 mins read

Massaoke hosted an hour of musical theatre karaoke during the Edinburgh Fringe at Underbelly. The music was provided by their live band, who increased the rock sound of much-loved musicals such as Wicked, The Sound of Music and many Disney classics.

Massaoke’s Sing The Musicals is a family friendly show, attracting a large crowd of fans of all ages. Many aspects of the show are designed to appeal to this demographic. With the band dressing in costume, interacting with children from the stage, and appearing outside the venue at the end of the show to take pictures. Despite this, there are also aspects that appeal to older fans. Songs from Chicago, Les Misérables and The Rocky Horror Picture Show are also included in the line-up.

When Brig attended for review, on the 2nd of August, it was their first show of the Fringe. The show was late to start, meaning not all of the planned songs fit into the time. But a perfect run is not always to be expected on the opening show.

It is difficult to give Sing the Musicals a starred rating, as it is not a play with a plot, but rather an interactive experience. How much you enjoy it, would differ depending on how much you get involved.

If you love musicals, it is likely that this is a Fringe event that you will enjoy. Just make sure that you bring the glee required to belt out the high notes to Defying Gravity.

Massaoke’s Sing The Musicals will play at Underbelly at 13.40 daily until the 24th of August.
