Chucklefish and Robotality’s long-awaited game Witchbrook is coming to all platforms this winter. This is what we know about the game so far.
Witchbrook is a life-sim adventure game set in the seaside town of Mossport. Players go to the witchcraft school Witchbrook College to grow their powers through broomstick flying and potion brewing. The game allows up to four players in online co-op. Players can customise their characters hair, clothes and accessories and decorate their cottage home.
The town of Mossport and role of witches in the city is inspired by the Studio Ghibli film Kiki’s Delivery Service, the story of a 13-year-old apprentice witch learning her powers in a town by the sea.
The people of Mossport rely on the witch population to solve problems from repairs to deliveries. Civic Witchcraft is an important part of the gameplay where you assist the non-magical citizens of Mossport with magic. You can use divination to give people advice on travel, finances and love during home consultations. Mossport has a quest board where you can pick up these jobs.
Romanceable NPCs
Players can romance their classmates in Witchbrook. So far, there are two confirmed characters: Eli Ivers and Hana Satō. Hana works at the Calico Fresh Threads clothes shop and Eli writes for the school newspaper, The Witchbrook Oracle.
The are also speculations that other NPCs will be romanceable such as Wren, “Gardening Gal” and “Dragon Daddy”.

Subjects You Can Take At Witchbrook College
Alchemy which starts with simple cures for mild illnesses before transitioning to complex potion brewing for more serious cures. Then, there is divination which focuses on predicting the future with tarot reading and analysing constellations. The final subject is arcane arts, which can only be taken by students who have passed their first and second semester exams. This subject covers rituals and demons. The sections of the elaborate library are clearly marked from potions to spells. There are also seating areas and bay windows to read where you wish.

Small Details Worth Mentioning
NPCs have their own lives and routines which brings more life into Mossport. One dev blog shows a player sitting on a bench reading during a timelapse of people coming and going throughout the day. The city is bustling with pedestrians, animals and vehicles from buses, to cars, to mopeds. Players can also experience festivals and changing seasons.

While you can leisurely fly on brooms, go shopping and make friends, this witchy game takes the life sim concept to a new level. As a student at Witchbrook College you will have to pay tuition fees. You can get a part-time job, start a business or sell crafts at the market. In addition, failing exams or falling behind in your classes will have consequences. Being on time is also important as there are limited parking spaces for your broom.
Potions and herbal teas require local flora and fauna. So, the game is likely to include foraging and animal handling. There is also the possibility of having animal familiars to assist in magic and form a strong bond with. Dev blogs show dragons and dogs throughout Mossport.
