Two University of Stirling student-athletes have returned from the Trampoline Gymnastics World Championships in Pamplona with valuable experience – and a silver medal – after strong performances for Great Britain.
Molly McKenna and Ethan Cunningham, both specialists in Double Mini Trampoline (DMT), represented their country at the 38th edition of the Championships, held at the Navarra Arena in Pamplona, northern Spain.
The event brought together the world’s leading trampoline gymnasts, with both Stirling scholars competing across the individual and team competitions. Read our preview of the competition here.
Molly McKenna helps British Team to Silver
For Molly, it proved another successful international outing, as she helped the British women’s DMT team secure silver, narrowly missing out on gold in a fiercely contested final against the USA.
While the 19-year-old was left a little disappointed with her individual performance – finishing 12th and 13th but missing out as only 3 athletes per country could progress to the finals – she took huge pride in contributing to her team’s podium finish.
Reflecting on her week in Spain, the University of Stirling student said on Instagram: “It may not have been my best performance individually but I am so proud of our team silver, which we all worked so hard for.
“I had the most amazing time with the most amazing group of people and I can’t wait to see what 2026 will bring.”
It marked another major milestone in Molly’s career, building on the success of her back-to-back senior British DMT titles and the team gold she claimed at the 2023 World Championships in Birmingham. Her growing consistency at international level has established her as one of Britain’s most promising young trampolinists.
First taste of World Championships for Ethan Cunningham
Meanwhile, Ethan Cunningham made his debut appearance at the senior World Championships – and showed huge potential in his first taste of competition at this level.
The 20-year-old and his teammates qualified an impressive third for the men’s team final, before finishing sixth overall against competition packed with world and European medallists.
Although he did not advance to the later stages of the individual event, the experience will have given Ethan renewed motivation and confidence.
With their World Championship campaigns now complete, both Molly and Ethan will return to training in Scotland ahead of a busy 2026 season, armed with new experience and plenty of motivation to build on their international progress.
