Maisie Williams, best known as Arya Stark on Game of Thrones, is set to deliver a talk at the university on her career and new networking app.

The event takes place on Wednesday February 6th at 2pm in the Logie Lecture Theatre and is open exclusively to students, who can register for free tickets here.

Williams will be discussing the origins of her career and her struggle to break into the film industry. She will also share details of her new app, Daisie, which intends to help young people build careers in the creative industries.

Williams said:  “Previous to Daisie, success in the creative industries has been wholly dependent on luck and ‘ins’ to the industry.

“Daisie introduces a new way into the creative world; through connections made organically and the natural development of your skills, propelling individuals to the next level. We’re so excited to facilitate the future of creative collaboration.”

Daisie plans to build a community of content creators, working across film, fashion, music, photography, art and literature, to collaborate on projects.

With over ten million followers across Twitter and Instagram, Williams will share her unique perspective on the effect social media has and how students can utilise these platforms in the arts.

Students will also get the chance to quiz Williams in a Q&A following the event. Those attending the talk, organised by the Division of Communications, Media and Culture, must bring their student ID cards and download the Daisie app from the Apple store to fully participate in the session.

The British actress will next be seen reprising her Emmy-nominated role in the final season of Game of Thrones, premiering April 15th on Sky Atlantic/HBO. Williams will also star as the shape-shifting mutant Wolfsbane in X-Men: New Mutants, due to be released on the big screen on August 2nd.
