Women’s football received a fundamental financial boost after the FA announced it has signed a multi-million pound broadcasting deal with the BBC and Sky Sports. As a result, it will bring an end to the current agreement between BT Sport and the BBC.
The landmark deal will come into operation at the beginning of the 2021/22 season, with up to 44 live games shown across Sky Sports, and a minimum of 18 games televised on BBC One or BBC Two.
While the exact value of the deal has not been disclosed, it is believed that the three-year deal is worth over £7 million per season. The finances will be split among WSL and Championship clubs, as well as central investments like referee development.
In an attempt to drastically increase revenue and exposure to the women’s game, the new deal will be the largest commercial agreement for women’s football in the world, and plans to make the WSL the most watched women’s sport league.

Signed to Anthony Joshua’s management team, Okolie’s win means he has replicated his mentors rise to win a world title in only his 16th fight, the same feat Joshua achieved by beating Charles Martin for the IBF belt in his 16th professional bout.
Scottish lower leagues return as Falkirk and Stirling grab important three points
It was a welcome return to lower league football in Scotland as League One and League Two action resumed across the country on Saturday afternoon.
With a reduced 22 match season, clubs in both leagues will be squeezing as many games in as possible in order to set up a one-off league split by April 18th.
Local sides Falkirk and Stirling Albion hosted Montrose and Brechin respectively, as the clubs carried on from where they left off in January.
Both teams gained valuable wins as Falkirk were comfortable 2-0 winners over Montrose to move four points clear at the top, while Stirling Albion edged Brechin by a goal to nil as they moved to second in the fourth tier.
