Brig Bite – Yer Grans lentil soup

Lentil soup is a staple of almost every Scottish kitchen and rightly so, the cheap and simple broth warms the soul like nothing else.

All you’ll need as a big pot and some time to kill to have a soup yer granny would be proud of.

Cook time: 4 hours.

Portions: 5-6

Ingredients:

Method:

  1. Boil your ham hock for two hours.
  2. Skim the fat and add veg and lentils.
  3. Simmer for two more hours.
  4. Remove the ham hock.
  5. Add your stock cubes then pepper to taste.
  6. Serve hot with crusty bread.
