Stirling Tolbooth have announced gig series NEW:NOISE, which will see local musicians hosted at the Tolbooth music venue every Friday from 7.30 PM.
The first series of concerts kicks off on February 16, and is set to run until March 22. The first event will feature performances from local musicians Last Boy, Xan Tyler and Tom Houston.
The event comes as part of an initiative from the council-run venue to shed light on up-and-coming musical talent in Stirling, the Forth Valley, and beyond. All artists playing at the Tolbooth for NEW:NOISE will have submitted their music to Tolbooth’s website back in December, when the venue announced their new agenda.
The series of concerts offers a chance to show the varied genres running through Stirling and Forth Valley’s music scene. Acts billed to play at the event include: punk band Thrown Away; female-led synth-pop group Brenda; Glasgow-based singer/songwriter Sulka; and folk-rock group The Deadly Winters.

Stirling Council leader Chris Kane sang Tolbooth’s praises as a venue to platform emerging talent.
He said: “The Tolbooth is one of the best live music venues in the country, as evidenced by its recent Venue of the Year Award success at the Scots Trad Music Awards.
“Our young musicians are being offered the opportunity to cut their teeth on one of the best possible stages to hone their craft through this initiative.”
If NEW:NOISE is a success, concerts filled with fresh-faces could become part of Stirling Tolbooth’s regularly scheduled programming. This will set the stage for more Stirling-based talent to experience playing in front of a live audience.
Tolbooth is also encouraging young people and students to come along, selling tickets at a lower price of £5 for students and under 25s. Regular tickets will cost £10.
